Goals #

  • accessible and easy to understand
  • quality over quantity, every information should have a source and should kept up-to-date, everything is approved by humans
  • multilingual, Europe speaks a lot of languages
  • mobile-first, super lightweight to allow access in all scenarios
  • keeping the content compact and easy to share
  • few or no dependencies, static files, almost no JS, etc
  • download/offline/print versions for easy access

Scope #

  • for now, we will focus on Europe, which is challenging enough, but should give us a good idea of the issues.
  • in this stage, we limit it to German and English as it makes it easier to modify everything. We'll add more languages as soon as the content is finalized.

What is the motivation behind this project?:
I've found https://safe-now.live/ by chance - a similar projects for North America and thought, that it is a great idea for Europe as well.
Why do you host it on Codeberg?:
it has to be hosted somewhere, and Codeberg is hosted in Europe and big enough to find some collaboration.
But there is already platform X, why bother?:
In my opinion, some information are missing. E.g. multilingual information, important terms in the native tongue, etc. Another one is, that I can make sure that the service stays online while learning a lot.

What is the story behind the name?:
It is easy to remember and type. And inspired by the pricing checker camelcamelcamel.
Why is it Europe only?:
At this point, Europe is difficult enough and a great starting point. There is a chance to extend the scope, but there is not plan as of now.
